Support slips for openly transgender service members: Gallup

A new Gallup poll found support among Americans for transgender individuals serving in the military has decreased to 58%, down from 71% in 2019 and 66% in 2021. According to the poll, support for transgender military members largely falls along party lines, with the majority of opposition coming from Republicans and some independents.

Twenty-three percent of Republicans surveyed support openly transgender individuals serving in the military. Conversely, 84% of Democrats support transgender military service, roughly the same as in 2019. While 78% of independents were in favor in 2019, that number dropped to 66% in 2021 and, in the most recent poll, 62%.
