US hits Russian state media with sanctions for raising money for Moscow’s troops in Ukraine

The U.S. State Department imposed new sanctions on Russian state media for allegedly fundraising for the military, including sniper rifles and body armor for soldiers in Ukraine. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that RT’s actions extend beyond propaganda. He identified the actions as critical to Russia’s military operations against democratic allies.
Officials mentioned that a crowd-sourcing effort raised funds for military supplies, some of which were sourced from China, but did not confirm connections between RT and the campaign.
