Weekly applications for US jobless benefits fall to the lowest level in 4 months

The number of Americans applying for unemployment benefits fell to 219,000 last week, the lowest level in four months, as reported by the Labor Department. Jobless claims slid by 12,000 for the week of Sept. 15, which is below analyst forecasts of 230,000 new filings.
The total number of Americans collecting jobless benefits decreased by 14,000 to about 1.83 million for the week of Sept. 8, the fewest since early June. Inflation slowly creeping back down has reportedly been a major help, with the Fed looking to find a balance between the labor market and inflation.
