White House says no need to restrict “open-source” artificial intelligence — at least for now

According to the White House, it supports “open source” artificial intelligence (AI). The White House now says there is currently no need for restrictions on companies that are distributing key artificial intelligence components.

Alan Davidson, who works with the U.S. Commerce Department, highlighted the need for open systems during an interview with the Associated Press (AP).

A report from National Telecommunications and Information Agency (NTIA) showed that there was not a sufficient amount of evidence to justify restrictions on artificial intelligence models.
