All it has started again, the “Us and Them” conversation about undocumented individuals and Americans. Don’t allow them to pit you against another group because they said so. Let’s talk about the reality of undocumented workers in America. I know some of you are accustomed to the term “illegal.” I challenge you. You see, my faith background does not allow me to refer to another human being as “illegal.” Undocumented simply means you do not have the prerequisite paperwork to work in the economy of America or be on the soil legally, based on documentation. The number one violators of overstayed visas is actually Canadians. But you’ve never heard of a raid to lock up Canadians. But I digress. Let’s go back to undocumented labor and the true genesis of this conversation and debate.
Conservatives would like to present proclamations that are so extreme, they lack any ability to truly solve a problem. Creating concentration camps, they don’t have the manpower, but that is a proposal on the agenda from the right. Building more wall or a longer wall, maybe a taller wall, that is not holistic immigration reform. You see, there’s not a wall that a man can build that another man cannot climb over or tunnel under or simply break through.
Where is the comprehensive plan? You see they’re not presenting one, there is no comprehensive plan, it’s only red meat to the base, because they want you to not like “them.” They want you to be adversarial to undocumented immigrants, they want you to believe things that simply are not true. For example, immigration itself is the effect. There’s a cause that creates the effect. What’s the cause? Do you know?
Let’s count the ways. One cause is this: Over 90% of undocumented individuals who come to America come here for work. They come here for work. Why do they come here for work? Because American businesses, American CEOs are willing to hire them. The same federal law that says it is illegal to work undocumented? The subsection of that federal law also says it is illegal to hire undocumented workers, but you have never seen a company CEO, hiring manager, human resources officer, job recruiter, you have never seen those individuals being taken to jail, or their homes raided, or there’s a massive roundup. No, you don’t see that. What they will give you, they will give you images of undocumented workers who are simply trying to make ends meet.
And we should all understand that struggle, because at a time or two, for the vast majority of Americans, we’ve had to work just to make ends meet. Okay. So that’s one cause. That resolves a significant amount of the reason why undocumented immigrants come to America in first place.
But America doesn’t want to cut down on the CEOs. They don’t want to truly penalize the actual attractor to the issue. So that’s one cause. There’s another one, because remember, cause and effect, the relationship. There’s this level of instability in some of the nations around America. And because of this instability, economic instability to be exact, it creates an inequity. That inequity benefits the United States of America. It benefits America when this country can outsource cheap labor to, let’s say, Mexico, right. And that cheap labor, the savings are passed to American shoppers. But it creates massive economic inequity inside of the other nation, which means that in order for a family to survive, they have to go through extreme measures. Understand this. They are risking their lives to do what? To work, to work, to have a job. This is an actual cause that creates the effect. If America was serious about resolving the immigration challenge in America, holistic reform requires coordination, holistic reform requires thoughtfulness. CEOs are not held accountable as they should. Also, where is the effort of the United States government? Where’s the effort of conservatives inside of Congress to actually resolve some of the inequity that exists? No, they benefit from it. So why would they ever resolve it? They want to just keep telling you, yeah, all we got to do is build a wall, or perhaps create an encampment in your state, in your neighborhood, and just round them up. The idea is quite insane when you consider it is antithetical to what we believe in as a nation. It is adverse to the values of America, but we are buying it for some reason. This is the reality: Until we have a comprehensive understanding of the problem, we will never have a comprehensive implementation of the solution.

Conservatives will make immigration crisis worse
Dec 08, 2023
By Straight Arrow News
To address the ongoing immigration crisis, former President Donald Trump has announced that, if elected, he will expand his first-term border policies, including sweeping raids and placing undocumented immigrants in camps. Meanwhile, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has signed a strict immigration law which penalizes employers for hiring undocumented workers.
Straight Arrow News contributor Dr. Rashad Richey contends the Right’s proposed “solutions” to the immigration crisis, such as constructing a larger wall or establishing camps, lack consideration of the root causes of the problem and are destined to be perpetually ineffective.
It has started again — the “us and them” conversation about undocumented individuals and Americans. Don’t allow them to pit you against another group because they said so. Let’s talk about the reality of undocumented workers in America.
