Former President Donald Trump defeated current Vice President Kamala Harris in the U.S. 2024 presidential elections, and will return to the White House in 2025. Trump’s win, which included an important surprise victory in the national popular vote, may set the stage for a GOP “trifecta” if Republicans can win a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives. Republicans have already claimed a majority in the U.S. Senate and are currently ahead in the race for the House.

Watch the above video as Straight Arrow News contributor Ben Weingarten recaps what he says Trump’s 2024 win says about Americans and how this might impact American policy in the years ahead.

The following is an excerpt from the above video:

Donald Trump’s victory was dramatic, decisive and historic for the establishment that argued he somehow dragged down past tickets. Well, there was no red wave in [the] 2022 midterm election with all the same factors at play. The difference was that he was atop the ticket this time. In 2024, Republicans romped to what looks like trifecta control in Washington, with Trump again vastly outperforming establishment favorites.

In providing the party this likely trifecta, Americans rejected knowingly — and in some cases probably unknowingly — not just open borders or out of control tax, spend and regulatory policies that made prices sky high and drove down take home pay or anti-cop, pro-crime policies, a radical gender ideology, but the censorship-industrial complex, weaponized and hyper-politicized law enforcement and national security policy, the Obama-Biden-Harris Iran-first policy, whole-of-government wokeness and all manner of other insanity that eroded liberty and justice and made life worse for the American people. The American people voted for peace and prosperity, common sense and prudence, the empowering and elevating of our citizens, sovereignty and sanity.

This is as close to a mandate as one can get in a 50-50 country. The conservative, populist, nationalist agenda is what the American public wants. It’s the way forward for the Republican Party, resonating across race, class and every other divide progressives have accentuated and tried to exploit for political gain. This was an American triumph without hyphenation, and should the Republican Party fulfill its mandate through executing on the Trump agenda, which could be built upon with up to eight more years, should JD Vance pick up its mantle, it will redound inordinately to the benefit of the country and mark a sea change in American history. It’s morning in America, and if this opportunity is successfully seized upon, it could be the dawning of a golden new age for our country as we approach its 250th birthday.

They called Donald Trump a Putin puppet, a traitor. They ran a deep state operation to spy on sabotage and subvert half of his first term as president. They ran two frivolous impeachment processes against him. They leaked, lied and slandered him incessantly. They tried to get his name thrown off the ballot. They initiated an unprecedented lawfare Inquisition against him, including four indictments plus civil cases to destroy his businesses and bankrupt him, humiliate him, break him and ultimately jail him for the crime of being a formidable political opponent who had once beaten them and threatened to do so again, they left him insecure, and twice, people tried to assassinate him, one firing off shots that came within an inch of ending his life, potentially his political movement, and throwing the country into utter chaos. Donald Trump and America not only survived it all, he backed by 10s of millions of people fed up with the status quo and all of the corruption and chicanery absolutely crushed a regime that has for nearly a decade been laboring to obliterate him while relegating our citizens to the position of Second Class subjects. He swept the swing states and moved almost every state rightward in shifting 1000s of counties towards the GOP. He outperformed his fellow Republicans in Senate races that nevertheless flipped from blue to red. He came closer than any Republican had in years in blue states, from New Jersey to Illinois, he shifted the electorate rightward across nearly every single cohort of race, color and background, namely, including blacks, Latinos, Jews and younger people.
