More women had their tubes tied after Roe v. Wade was overturned

After Roe v. Wade was overturned, more women chose tubal ligations, especially in states with abortion bans, according to a new study published by JAMA. The study analyzed insurance claims for about 4.8 million women, noting an increase in sterilization procedures after June 2022.
From July to December 2022, tubal ligation rates in banned states rose by 3% each month, highlighting continuing trends in those areas. A different study, published by JAMA in April, also found that male vasectomies also rose over the same time period.
