Princeton gender studies program to offer ‘sex work,’ ‘queer spaces’ courses

Princeton University’s Gender and Sexuality Studies program will offer classes on “Sex Work” and “Queer Spaces” in the spring semester, according to the university’s online course listing. The program includes five courses with “Queer” in their descriptions, such as “Love: Anthropological Explorations” and “Power, Profit and Pleasure: Sex Workers and Sex Work.”
The Sex Work course will focus on the stigmatization and controversies surrounding the topic, exploring the lives of sex workers from their own perspectives. Several universities in the U.S. have introduced courses on Queer Studies to engage students in examining identity, representation and culture through diverse perspectives.
