US election officials decry Trump’s threat to jail them if he returns to White House

U.S. election administrators and Kamala Harris’s campaign condemned Donald Trump’s threats to jail “corrupt” election officials if he wins on Nov. 5, accusing him of intimidation and inciting violence. Trump threatened prosecution for anyone engaging in voter fraud in the 2024 election in a social media post. Studies show voter fraud is extremely rare in the U.S.
Adrian Fontes described Trump’s post as “tyrannical,” adding it could incite political violence, while Jocelyn Benson emphasized her commitment to fair and secure elections despite threats.
