I mean, we have to talk about the tape, right? Okay, so if you have been living under a rock for the last few days, let me bring you up to speed. CNN obtained audio of Trump essentially confessing to the crime that he is currently under indictment for. And it is bananas. So let’s just listen.
Trump’s rapidly dwindling legal team has, I guess, been trying to suggest that he wasn’t actually swinging around classified documents having to do with war plans against Iran, despite the fact that he is very clearly in this audio doing exactly that. He’s like, look, look at this. Look at this thing. I’m not allowed to have the thing. I’m not allowed to show people hanging on my country club, but it’s right here. Look at it.
I almost feel bad for his lawyers. But wait, no, I don’t. I don’t.
There is a lot to unpack in this recording. But I think for me the most rage inducing part of it — apart from the just insane recklessness — is the smugness. The literal giggling over documents that affect actual human lives in actual tangible ways. It’s so cool. Can we get some Cokes? It’s just … It’s humiliating as an American.
Listen, say what you will about Joe Biden. He is not a perfect candidate. We all know that. But he is the grown up in the room. He has dignity. He has a sense of morality. And while we’re on that topic, everybody you, you have got to vote for Joe Biden. No tossing your vote to one of the leftfield third party candidates because you like them.
We’re not doing RFK Jr. Even though he has a cool last name. We’re not doing Marianne Williamson. We’re not doing Cornel West as much as I like as ideologies — not today. This is a triage situation and we can not run the risk of having this class a demagogue in office again. If you are in a swing state, you are absolutely not allowed to run the risk of losing us the Electoral College, please. We need to all get on board with our priorities. And priority number one is never ever ever having a human being like Donald Trump anywhere near the White House. Ever, ever again.
