With Trump at helm, Republican Party is no more

All opinions expressed in this article are solely the opinions of the contributors.

Shortly after allies of former President Donald Trump took key leadership positions within the Republican National Convention (RNC), numerous staffers were terminated. Chris LaCivita, Trump’s senior campaign adviser and RNC chief operating officer, said the RNC would operate more efficiently. On March 8, Lara Trump, Trump’s daughter-in-law, assumed the role of committee co-chair, while Michael Whatley, a former North Carolina GOP chairman, took over from Ronna McDaniel as the chair.

Straight Arrow News contributor Dr. Rashad Richey contends that these changes mark another shift from traditional conservatism to Trumpism within the Republican Party. He argues that dissenting opinions are no longer tolerated in this new iteration of the party, and asserts that Republicans are solely responsible for this transformation.

Democrats did not eliminate the Republican Party. According to Don Jr., his dad did. Yeah. Donald Trump, former president of the United States, has now taken over the RNC. His son, Don Jr. said clearly, “The Republican Party is no more. You only have MAGA now.” That’s it.

Now, when I said this a year and a half ago, Republicans said that I was out of my mind, that, ‘Hey doc, you don’t know what you’re talking about. We still have room for varying opinions inside of the Republican Party. You don’t necessarily have to support Donald Trump in order to be a Republican today.’ Well, that day is gone.

You see, here’s why it’s actually dangerous. The Republican Party proper, the RNC, they attempted to be a barrier between the extreme agenda of Donald Trump and Trumpites, and also the more, let’s just say, normative conservative. Some of the agenda items are extreme in various states. That is going to now be nationalized.

Please understand. Those that support Trump and Trump himself, they were never actually conservatives. They took advantage of an opportunity, an opportunity to obtain political power. It is the new industry of the Trumps — politics. If other Republicans will allow this to happen, you are getting what you deserve.
