President Donald Trump has run the most amazing nomination campaign in modern history. He has basically clinched the Republican nomination after just two events, the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary. For all practical purposes, it’s over. He’s the nominee. And that sets up a very interesting situation. This will be the longest general election campaign in history 287 days. And that means the President Trump has the opportunity to do things no other candidate could ever do. First of all, he can establish a clear sandwich of choice. The first slice of bread, of course, is his first four years in office, which 61% of American people told the Harvard poll they believe was better than what’s happening under Biden. The middle of the sandwich is the Biden administration, which has done such a terrible job that Overwhelmingly, people repudiate what it’s doing. 58% of the country, for example, believes that the border is a catastrophe. Under Biden, the inflation rate is hammering, every American can just go down the list. The other side of that sandwich is the future, where President Trump can promise more jobs, saving the cities, closing the border, bring us safety, and a whole range of changes that will be very popular with the American people. There’s another factor in the longest campaign we’ve ever had. This gives the President Elect or the president I’m sorry, this gives former President Trump an opportunity to visit groups who’ve never seen a Republican candidate. And I predict that you’ll see him all over the country, going to interesting places, seeing interesting people, and giving them the feeling that you know, here is a candidate who cares about me. Now, this is an important opportunity. Republicans have never been that successful with African Americans, or Latinos, or Asian Americans or Native Americans. But here’s a chance for President Trump, who has enormous energy, and likes campaigning, likes meeting people, likes learning things, to go out there and crisscross the country. Meanwhile, President Biden has a new problem. They were hoping there’ll be a five or six month fight for the Republican nomination. Instead, it’s over. And now they’re faced with a continuous, constant marathon between President Trump and President Biden. I think it’s gonna be one of the most interesting races in American history. I think it’s going to draw a very sharp contrast of ideas, or performance, and of promises. And I think the country will have a chance to make a very, very decisive choice this fall, about what kind of future they want. And that’ll depend more than the personalities. If you want one kind of future, you’ll vote for Biden. If you want a different kind of future, you’ll vote for Trump. And I think that’ll be the nature of this campaign. It’s going to be fascinating.

A long campaign favors an energetic Donald Trump

Former President Donald Trump has decisively won both the Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary, making it increasingly likely he will be the GOP nominee facing President Joe Biden in the general election. With wins in these Republican primaries, Trump has redirected his focus toward the November contest.
Straight Arrow News contributor Newt Gingrich believes Trump’s early, strong lead in the GOP primaries presents a unique opportunity for the former president in what Gingrich calls the “longest general election campaign in history.”
First of all, he [Trump] can establish a clear “sandwich” of choice. The first slice of bread, of course, is his first four years in office, which 61% of American people told the Harvard poll they believe was better than what’s happening under Biden.
