Left-wing media bias already in high gear for 2024
The race for president in 2024 is well underway with contenders fighting to get an early advantage. Former President Donald Trump has already declared he’s making a third bid for the White House, and his former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley has also tossed her hat in the ring. As more contenders join the scrum, keep…

Congress was right to boot Rep. Ilhan Omar from Foreign Affairs
The removal of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) from the Foreign Affairs Committee by House Republicans is the latest sign of the bitter partisan divide in Congress. Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and others cited Omar’s past comments about Israel and the 9/11 attacks, which even fellow Democrats condemned, as the reason for her ouster. Straight Arrow…

Biden playing more games with end of COVID emergency
The national COVID-19 health emergency will officially come to a close on May 11, 2023. The end of the emergency declarations will impact Americans in many ways, as funding for free COVID-19 test kits, treatments, and vaccine distribution will likely go away. Straight Arrow News contributor Star Parker says President Joe Biden is using the…

Violence against police will only hurt communities they serve
Five former Memphis Police Department officers were charged with second-degree murder in the beating of a 29-year-old Black man, Tyre Nichols, after a traffic stop. The attack — which attorneys for the victim’s family describe as resembling the Los Angeles Police Department beating of Rodney King — was caught on video to be released shortly.…

Republicans must play hardball to reduce US national debt
The U.S. has officially hit its debt ceiling, the max amount of money it is able to borrow. With the government on the hook for $31 trillion, Republicans in Congress say they want spending concessions made before they agree to raise the debt ceiling. The White House says it won’t negotiate. Chaotic speaker vote for McCarthy shows democracy at work
After 15 rounds of voting, an agreement with ultra-conservative Republicans, along with two representatives nearly coming to blows, Kevin McCarthy finally won the House speakership. It was the first time in over 100 years that the process took more than one ballot, and could signal contentious times ahead for the GOP. But Straight Arrow News…

Democrats weaponizing race only further divides the country
Last month the U.S. Supreme Court heard arguments in a case from a Colorado web designer who doesn’t want to work on same-sex weddings. Using a photo shoot scene from the 1946 film “It’s a Wonderful Life” as a hypothetical, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson suggested the designer’s argument could be used to endorse racial discrimination.…

Predictions 2023: DOJ refuses to prosecute corrupt Biden administration
If there are any predictions for 2023 that look nearly certain to come true, it’s that the war in Ukraine wages on, Sam Bankman-Fried‘s situation becomes even more precarious, and political gridlock prevails on Capitol Hill. In just over a week, control over the House of Representatives will fall into Republican hands, putting the Biden…

Regretful bills pushed through during ‘lame duck’ Congress
The midterm election results removed Democrats’ unified grip on power in Washington, D.C., and soon they’ll be facing a divided government. However, they still have a narrow window in which to pass bills into law before Republicans take over the majority in 2023. This “lame-duck” session, according to Straight Arrow News contributor Star Parker, is…

Web designer should not be forced to work on same-sex weddings
A majority of the conservative-leaning Supreme Court appears sympathetic to an evangelical Christian web designer who is refusing, based on her religious beliefs, to provide services to same-sex couples planning to wed. Lorie Smith is seeking an exemption from a Colorado state law that bans discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. She claims there…

The transgender issue is the social challenge of our times
Transgenderism has become a political flashpoint. Several conservative-led states have passed laws banning transgender athletes from girls’ sports, and Texas is investigating gender-affirming care as child abuse. In response, California has become a transgender sanctuary state. Straight Arrow News contributor Star Parker says the transgender issue is the social challenge of our times. She declares that…

Thanksgiving dinner more precious for families than ever
In the year 1620, the Mayflower left England and landed on Cape Cod, where the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared the feast that has come to be known as Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey, cranberry sauce, and sweet potatoes have become staples of the meal, but more important than the food served might be the custom of…

The holidays are a break from political squabbling
According to a recent Nielsen survey, the vast majority of Americans (91%) are planning to celebrate Thanksgiving this year. About 54 million Americans said they will travel, up about 6 million from last year, according to an AAA survey. But with the country feeling more divided than ever, can families with opposing political beliefs survive…

Our country is more divided than ever. Now what?
It doesn’t take a nationwide election year to tell us we’re living in a divided world, but has it always been this way? Two scholars at Vanderbilt University sought to quantify the economic, social and political divisions in American society over the last four decades. According to their analysis, the highest level of unity — 71.3…
