Biden losing support of Black Americans, identity politics is to blame

Dec 01, 2023

In exit polls from the 2020 U.S. presidential elections, 87% of Black American voters reported voting for Joe Biden. Today, however, Biden’s overwhelming endorsement by Black voters is beginning to erode. Recently, as many as 20% of Black voters told pollsters that they would consider voting for Donald Trump.

Straight Arrow News contributor Star Parker expects that Black support for Biden will continue to erode. Parker blames Democrats for focusing too much on race and identity politics.

So, President Biden is losing support among Black voters. The next question is: Why?

Well, there’s a quote from a Democrat operative in a recent political article that summed it up. One reason, he said, [is that] we’re treating them like their only issue is racial issues. And not all of us. But to some extent, some of us have moved past that.

That right there, that racial issues are all that matters to Blacks, as if Black people don’t care about anything else that’s critical to all Americans, such as the economy, health care, education, crime. Oh, and what about the crisis at the border or abortion? Yeah, there are some issues that uniquely impact Black Americans, abortion being one of them. But there are other issues that impact all of us.

And by the time we get to where we can actually make these discussions permanent about how America works, the Democrat Party has shown that the only thing that they are interested in is identity politics. The color of one’s skin seems to be the only thing that they care about, and why Blacks should keep voting for them. And they’re trying to hammer Blacks into believing this too.

What, Biden is losing support among black voters? Wow, good news!

President Biden walked away with 92% of the black vote in 2020. However, polls have consistently shown recently that this level of support is no longer true. For instance, a recent New York Times / Sienna College poll of six battleground states showed Biden support and black voters hovering around 70% regardless of who the Republican candidate is. Biden fares even worse against Nikki Haley, when he’s only at 68% Black support. Other recent polls have shown the same thing.

So, President Biden is losing support among black voters. The next question is why?

Well, there’s a quote from a Democrat operative in a recent political article that summed it up. One reason, he said, [is that] we’re treating them like their only issue is racial issues. And not all of us. But to some extent, some of us have moved past that.

Now, it is true that there is value in understanding the attitudes and political behavior of targeted populations. Yet there’s also value in recognizing the individuality of Black voters and thus challenging the assumption that their political allegiance can be neatly packaged based on their race. Democrats can’t understand that. It’s why they throw their hands up in the air in confusion every time they see a demographic leave. Like in Florida, they have an election, then wondering why the Hispanic vote didn’t vote for us? Why didn’t it go the way we wanted it to? Or the Cuban vote? Wait, what the Brazilians? How are they not voting on these racial and ethnic identity matters?

Look, the Biden camp is hoping that Vice President Kamala Harris can be of some help gaining that Black support back, but it’s not gonna happen. That’s not going to be the winning strategy for them, because she’s a failure. This is someone who has been unpopular for many, many years now, including in the Black community, many scratching their head to say what exactly did she say? And every time she tries to dig herself out, she really digs herself in deeper by pretending yeah I know Black culture, never lived in, I don’t even have full understanding of it, I’m an elite, grew up elite, but hey I’m gonna try. And according to Biden, their strategy boils down to hey, I chose one of you Blacks as my running mate! See, I care about you black people.

This is their only strategy, and they hope that it will work this election season, but the polls are showing it will not. In fact, Vice President Harris just recently visited South Carolina to file the paperwork for President Biden for the primary, and she was joined by Congressman James Clyburn who helped him win. He was the one who essentially sealed the deal for Biden, after everybody knew that this man was just not the right person, especially on Black issues. But Congressman Clyburn helped him and now he’s echoing what many Democrat pollsters focus groups, that organizers and all the campaign strategists have been saying for months, this is not a winning strategy. What we need to do is just list Biden’s accomplishments, everything else we’re doing is not working. We need to get the Black vote back. So what we’re going to do is just have Blacks change their mind by telling them all the wonderful big things that Biden has done for them.

They act like this is the only thing that Blacks care about, as if they’re ignorant of the actual great things, so-called, that Biden has done for all Americans, which is take us into a spiral downward. But you know, they keep saying don’t you see what we’ve done so much, you may be paying much, much, much, much more [buying] groceries to feed your family, but your life is actually better, not worse under Bidenomics.

Come on, give us a break, give us all a break, who can believe Biden policies are your pocketbook? The black vote is not a pawn to be moved on a political chessboard. And I think they’re looking at these new data and seeing that, and while Democrats are blind to reality, Black voters cannot afford to be, nor are they. That’s why they’re starting to look differently at the Biden administration, which is leaving these Democrat operatives scratching their head to say what must we do? 75% of Black American voters are Christians. The choices will be very clear which candidate will win, who they will look for, and why they will look for that candidate. And I think that they’re starting to look at candidates who are rooted in the sanctity of life issues, of rule of law issues, the foundations of a free people, which is what our ancestors wanted, which is where we’re going. So this election, this next election, 2024, Black voters will probably be voting their values, and as a result, Democrats are scared and should be.
