The DOJ indictment may be only the beginning of Donald Trump’s legal problems, but so far, most of his supporters remain loyal to the former president. While Trump’s numbers have fallen slightly since he was indicted by the Justice Department for his handling of classified documents, he remains the clear frontrunner for the GOP nomination.
Straight Arrow News contributor Rashad Richey says Trump’s hold over the MAGA base is strong, but his growing legal peril may finally loosen that grip.
This madness has got to stop. I’m talking about the infatuation with Donald Trump.
There is a cult-like atmosphere around this cat. I get it. There are some who are now coming out of the cult. As a matter of fact, one woman, 70 years of age, stormed the capitol for Donald Trump. She now admits she was in a cult, and while inside of that cult she was unable to see the reality present. That’s what occultic behavior and psychology will do. It eliminates your ability to be self-analytical, to be self-aware, and to understand the difference between truth and fantasy.
Donald Trump is exploiting individuals and their longing, their need for connection. He knows this. Republicans who have supported him for years, they know it as well. Lindsey Graham is no actual Trump supporter. I don’t think Chris Christie was ever a Trump supporter, and Mike Pence, come on. Mike Pence just wanted to be president one day himself. That’s why he took the job.
But let’s talk about the new context of mishandling classified information. He had a year to give the documents back, refused to do so. He then said he did, but did not. He went on multiple interviews, saying that he never showed classified information to anyone. He had no documents. Before that, he told the world that he actually declassified the information.
And then after the tape comes out, where he clearly is holding up classified information that he self identified — he then says, “But it was just papers. There’s no classified information, just newspapers. Yeah, that was it.”
And then the next day, he changes the narrative again and says it was all bravado. He was just making it up. He was lying.
